There are three effective methods to maintain the warmth of synthetic urine for a drug test:

Keeping it close to your body – This method uses your body heat to keep the urine warm. You can place it in your pants between your legs or in a bra.

Utilizing heat pads – Heat pads can provide consistent warmth. You can attach a heat pad to the urine container to keep it at the right temperature. However, there are some nuances to this method, which I’ll explain later.

Using an electric urine warmer – An electric urine warmer is a device that heats the urine to the desired temperature. While it seems like the best option, there are several severe downsides.

I will explain each method step by step. This way, you can approach your drug test with confidence.

What temperature does urine have to be for a drug test?

Urine generally leaves the body at around 98.6°F. For drug tests, the temperature must be checked within 4 minutes after urination.

This is because urine cools down slightly once it leaves the body. During a drug test, the acceptable temperature range is between 90 and 100°F (32-37°C).

If the urine sample is too cold or too hot, the collector will request a second sample.

This second collection is done under direct observation, which means the collector will watch the process. Refusing to provide another sample is treated as a refusal, which is reported to the Medical Review Officer and your employer.

Most employers consider a refusal more serious than a positive test result and it can often lead to immediate termination. A sample below body temperature is usually seen as an attempt to cheat.

How long does pee stay warm for a drug test?

Imagine you have a 1.7oz (50ml) urine bottle at body temperature 98°F and the room is at 75°F.

Under normal conditions, a small volume like this would cool from 98°F to below 90°F in about 15 to 30 minutes. However, this is just a rough estimate.

In the environment of a drug testing bathroom, a bottle of urine at body temperature won’t cool down too quickly, especially considering you only have only 4 minutes to submit the sample.

How to keep urine warm using body heat

This method relies on body heat. The normal body temperature of 98 degrees Fahrenheit is sufficient for a drug test.

However, it takes time to warm the urine to the required temperature, usually 15-30 minutes.

There are three convenient places to warm synthetic urine using body heat:

  1. Crotch area (between your legs)
  2. Bra (for women with larger breasts).
  3. On your stomach.

Use a suitable container that can be securely fixed.

A small bottle, around 50ml, is ideal. It should be small enough to hide but large enough to hold the required amount of urine.

A flat bottle is less noticeable on the body.

The best option is a special urine bottle with a temperature strip for convenient temperature monitoring.

Keeping urine warm between your legs

Place the bottle in your underpants, right in the crotch area.

Tight pants help keep the bottle close to your body. The urine will stay warm as long as it’s kept close to the body.

Wear a dress or loose pants to ensure the bottle isn’t noticeable.

How long does urine stay warm between your legs?

A bottle with fake urine will stay warm as long as it stays in contact with your body. It takes about 15 to 30 minutes to warm a 50ml urine bottle to body temperature if you place it between your legs.

You need to make sure it stays in contact with your body the entire time until you reach the drug testing bathroom. Also, keep the bottle there for 15 to 30 minutes.

You can also preheat it with a microwave; I’ll explain how below.

After you remove the urine bottle from between your legs, the urine begins to cool down. However, it will take at least 15 minutes for it to cool below 90°F.

This gives you enough time to submit your sample.

Keeping urine warm in a bra

This method is similar to the previous one. Place the bottle in your bra, close to your body. However, a bottle in a bra is more noticeable.

Secure the bottle with adhesive tape to prevent it from falling out.

Keeping urine warm on your stomach

Place the bottle on your stomach and use adhesive tape to secure it. Ensure you can retrieve the bottle easily and quietly in the drug testing bathroom.

How to keep urine warm with hand warmers or heating pads

hand warmers and heat pad

Heat pads and hand warmers are special chemical heating elements. Once activated, they generate enough heat to warm urine to the required temperature.

Heat pads included with synthetic urine kits are designed to heat the urine to the exact required temperature. On the other hand, hand warmers are created to produce more heat, intended to warm hands or feet in severe cold.

Hand warmers can reach temperatures between 100 and 180 degrees Fahrenheit (37 and 82 degrees Celsius).

Because of this, using hand warmers can make the urine too hot. Overheating urine is not recommended as it can alter its structure and cause it to fail validity tests.

Manufacturers of synthetic urine kits put less powder in their heat pads. They measure the powder carefully to produce the exact amount of heat needed, so they don’t overheat the urine.

Another difference is that special heat pads have an adhesive side. This allows you to stick the heat pad directly to the urine bottle, which works great.

To achieve this with a hand warmer, you would need a rubber band. This is not as convenient, and the rubber band can tear.

To keep your bottle with fake urine warm using heat pads, simply open the heat pad and attach it to the side of the bottle.

If there is a temperature strip on the bottle, make sure to attach the heat pad to the other side. That’s all there is to it. If you are using hand warmers or toe warmers, use a rubber band to keep them attached to the bottle.

It usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes to warm urine from room temperature to body temperature using a heat pad. Hand warmers will do it faster, but be careful as they can overheat the urine.

How to keep urine warm with a battery-powered electric urine warmer

An electric urine warmer is a specialized device. It includes a urine bag, an electric synthetic urine heater, and a temperature control element.

This device automatically controls the temperature. Simply fill the bag with urine, wear the belt with the urine bag around your waist, and turn it on.

It will automatically heat the urine to the required temperature and maintain it for up to 10 hours.

The Urinator is the only battery powered urine warmer.

While the concept of the Urinator is innovative, its execution leaves much to be desired. Therefore, I wouldn’t recommend it for a drug test. It does boast several interesting features, such as:

  • An Electronic Heating Device that ensures the urine remains at the necessary temperature, eliminating the need for external heating pads.
  • A Liquid Crystal Thermometer for easy monitoring of the temperature.
  • A Computerized Digital Controller that automatically keeps the urine temperature within the desired range in the bag.

However, there are significant drawbacks that make its use risky.

Firstly, it’s quite bulky. It requires two batteries to operate, and accommodating these batteries necessitates additional space.

This bulkiness makes the Urinator conspicuously noticeable under clothing, increasing the risk of detection. Additionally, it’s expensive.

The unit itself costs $170, and each use requires about $15 spent on batteries.

As an alternative, I recommend the Incognito Belt.

It doesn’t rely on an electric urine warmer, yet it’s very discreet and effectively maintains urine at a warm enough temperature for a drug test.

Incognito Belt

The Incognito Belt is another convenient, all-inclusive solution. It warms urine in two ways:

  1. By placing the urine bag close to your body on your waist, allowing body heat to warm the urine.
  2. It comes with two heat pads for an additional heat source. These pads provide the exact amount of heat needed without the risk of overheating.

The Incognito Belt stands out as an excellent solution for passing a drug test due to several key features:

  1. Urine Bag on a Belt: This design is practical and easy to wear.
  2. Discreet and Undetectable: It can be hidden on the body, making it difficult for a collector to detect.
  3. Ease of Sneaking into a Drug Test: Its design facilitates easy and discreet transport to a drug test.
  4. Adjustable Velcro Belt: Fits up to a 48″ waist, making it suitable for both males and females.
  5. Pre-filled with Synthetic Urine: Contains enough urine for two uses, eliminating the need to purchase synthetic urine separately.
  6. High-Quality Synthetic Urine: Designed to pass both visual and laboratory checks.
  7. Effective Temperature Maintenance: Wearing the belt around your waist helps keep the urine at the right temperature for a drug test.
  8. Two High-Quality Heating Pads: These pads are skin-safe and maintain the urine at the exact temperature needed for a drug test without overheating.
  9. Temperature Strip on the Bladder Bag: Allows for easy monitoring of the urine temperature.
  10. Leak-Proof Construction: Ensures the belt won’t leak in your pants.
  11. Rubber Tube and Convenient Clip: Facilitates easy urine delivery and mimics the sound of urination. A second clip acts as a backup to prevent accidental spills.
  12. Detailed Instructions Included: Guides users through the process, making it easy to use.
  13. Proven Track Record: Has been successfully used for passing drug tests since 2003, ensuring reliability.
  14. Cost Consideration: Priced at around $130, it might seem high, but it includes synthetic urine for two uses, a discreet carrying solution, and heating pads. Purchasing these components separately could be more expensive.

Overall, the Incognito Belt’s combination of discreet design, reliability, and complete package makes it a valuable investment for those needing to pass drug tests.

How to check synthetic urine temperature

No matter which method you use, it’s essential to have a reliable way to check the urine’s temperature before submission.

I recommend using temperature strips that can be attached to the bottle.

warm urine temperature strip

These strips are accurate and display the current temperature of the bottle.

Ensure the strip’s maximum temperature exceeds 90°F, as many strips max out at 90°F.

High-quality synthetic urine kits typically include these temperature strips on the bottle.

How to quickly warm the urine

There are times when you might need to quickly warm urine to the required temperature.

This could be for a surprise drug test, if you’re short on time, or if you need to warm urine from the fridge. Here’s how to do it swiftly.

How to warm synthetic urine with a microwave

Using a microwave to warm urine isn’t the most convenient option. It’s challenging to gauge the necessary time, as microwave powers vary and they don’t heat liquids evenly. Here’s what to do:

  1. Open the urine bottle and place it in the microwave.
  2. Heat it in 10-second intervals at average power.
  3. After each interval, check the temperature with a strip or thermometer.
  4. If there’s no reading, heat it again for another 10 seconds.
  5. Aim for a temperature close to 100°F but avoid going over, as this could overheat the sample.
  6. Once the urine reaches the desired temperature, remove it from the microwave.
  7. Be careful not to overheat the urine.

I’ll explain what to do if you accidentally overheat the urine later in this article.

WARNING: Never put urine belts like the Urinator or Incognito belts in the microwave. This can damage the urine bag and lead to spills.

How to warm synthetic urine using hot water

Using warm water is a straightforward method to quickly warm synthetic or fake urine.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Fill a bowl with hot water.
  2. Place the urine bottle in the hot water.
  3. Wait until the urine temperature reaches the required range.
  4. Remove the urine bottle from the water.
  5. Dry the bottle with napkins or a towel.
  6. Attach a heat pad to the bottle to maintain the temperature, or keep the bottle close to your body for warmth.

How to warm synthetic urine with heat activator powder

The quickest method to warm urine is using heat activator powder, included in some high-quality synthetic urine kit, like Sub Solution.

This powder heats the urine within seconds.

sob solution heating powder

Here’s the process:

  1. Shake the vial containing the powder.
  2. Carefully add 1/3 of the heat activator to the mixing container. If the temperature strip shows 88°F to 92°F, only add 1/4 of the activator.
  3. Gently shake the contents to dissolve the heat activator completely, usually in less than 20 seconds.
  4. Once the granules are fully dissolved, check the temperature strip. Ensure the solution is within the 94°F to 100°F range (indicated in green).

Add the powder in small portions to avoid overheating. This method is fast but requires precise measurement of the powder.

After heating, attach a heat pad to the bottle or keep it close to your body to maintain the temperature.

How to thaw frozen urine

To thaw frozen urine, you can simply leave it at room temperature for about an hour.

This duration is typically sufficient for a 3oz bottle of urine. If you need to unfreeze it more quickly, you can use a microwave.

Heat the bottle in 10-second intervals, being careful not to overheat it.

After each interval, check the bottle to see if any ice remains. Another effective method is placing the bottle in warm water, which can help thaw the urine faster.

What to do if you overheated the urine

Overheating urine is generally not recommended as it can promote bacterial growth, even in synthetic urine.

However, accidentally overheating urine by a few degrees once or twice isn’t a major issue. In such cases, let it sit and cool down for several minutes.

Keep an eye on the temperature strip. Once the temperature is back within the required range, you’re ready to go.

Conclusion

The most common method to maintain urine temperature is using heat pads.

Ensure you use a urine bottle with a temperature strip and reliable heat pads.

Alternatively, the Incognito Belt is a great option as it utilizes both body heat and a heat pad to keep the urine warm, while being completely discreet.
