Sub Solution Synthetic Urine: An Expert Review
In this post, I’ll review Clear Choice Sub Solution synthetic urine. It’s a popular synthetic urine kit used to pass drug tests.
The formula in this kit is considered the best on the market, identical to real urine.
I got this kit, and I’ll unbox it, test its quality with a medical-grade test, and see if it passes a urine validity test.
I’ll also share the pros and cons of this kit.
Kit contents
This kit comes with powdered synthetic urine, heat activator powder, and a bottle with a temperature strip. Let’s examine each of these.
First, the synthetic urine comes in powdered form, which is perfect for storage. Mixed urine spoils quickly after opening the bottle. With powdered urine, you can mix just what you need for one test and save the rest for the next test. The vial with powder has marks on it, so you can measure the right amount precisely.
However, having the urine in powder form has a downside. I’ll discuss that in the downsides section.
So, let’s test if this urine is really like human urine. For this test, I’ve got professional medical urinalysis strips that show the amount of different components in the urine. Using them, we can determine if the urine parameters are within the normal range.
I mixed half of the urine powder with one ounce of clean water and used the strip on this urine. You can see the results in the photo below.
As you can see in the photo, the pH of the urine is about 6.5, and the specific gravity is 1.010, which are normal levels for urine.
The lab cannot tell that this urine is synthetic.
The bottle for mixing the urine comes with a temperature strip. This helps you see if the temperature is okay before submitting the sample, which is convenient.
The bottle also has a flip-up spout cap. This feature is important..
Imagine yourself in a drug testing bathroom. You are nervous; the situation is stressful. You need to unscrew the cap, pour the urine into the test cup, and then screw the cap back. You have just four minutes to submit the sample. In a nervous situation, this can be a problem, and you might spill the urine because of stress.
With the flip-up spout cap, you just need to flip it up, pour the urine into the cup, and flip it down. It’s easy. The cap is spill-proof and won’t leak in your pocket or wherever you hide the urine.
Next, let’s go to the heating option. Wrong urine temperature is the number one reason people fail drug tests using synthetic urine. So, you must make sure the urine temperature is within 90-100°F before giving the sample.
We have a detailed guide on how to keep the urine warm here: Best Ways to Keep Urine Warm For a Drug Test . Sub Solution offers just one heating option: heat activator powder.
This powder should be added to the urine, and it heats the urine within seconds. For me, this isn’t a good option, and I’ll explain why in the next section about downsides.
Downsides
So, about the downsides of Sub Solution.
The first is the single heating option, the heat activator powder. It should be added to the urine and warms it within seconds, but that’s not convenient at all.
First, if you decide to do this in the drug testing bathroom, it’s a bad idea. You will be limited in time, and the situation is stressful. You need to measure the exact amount. If you add too much, the urine will be overheated.
Think about how you will get the bottle with this powder to the drug testing bathroom. You need a place to hide the bottle with the urine and extra space to hide the heat activator powder. You cannot keep it in your pocket because you will need to empty your pockets before going into the drug test bathroom.
If you decide to use the heat activator powder before going to the drug test facility, you still need a way to keep the urine warm because it will cool down. You can place it close to your skin, like in the crotch area, but that will only keep the urine warm for 15-30 minutes. If you have that time before the drug test, you don’t need this powder.
The only use I see for this powder is quickly preheating when you don’t have a microwave and have a sudden drug test. But you still need to mix the urine, and that takes time. So, to sum it up, the downside is that the heat activator powder is rather useless. Clear Choice could make the kit cheaper by removing this powder.
Another downside is that the urine is in powdered form. This isn’t a big downside, but you need to mix it with water first, which takes 5-10 minutes. This can be bad if you are in a hurry. While the manufacturer says to use tap water, I don’t recommend it. You’ll need clean bottled water. Tap water can contain chemicals, and your urine can fail the validity test. You don’t need that.
The next downside is that the kit lacks an option to sneak the urine into the drug test facility. If it’s your first time using synthetic urine for a drug test, this can be stressful and complex. You can place it in the crotch area, but that’s not convenient, and you need tight underwear to fix the bottle. Or you can buy a stash leg belt, but that adds to the price.
So, if you are experienced and comfortable with the bottle in your underwear, this kit will work. Otherwise, I suggest looking for something like Incognito Belt, which has everything included for passing the drug test.
How to use Sub Solution to pass a drug test
- First, you need to prepare the urine. The synthetic urine can be mixed with water up to eight hours before use.
- Remove the screw cap from the bottle and fill it with room temperature (59°F to 77°F) water, just below the cap. The water should not be too hot or too cold. I recommend using clean bottled water instead of tap water.
- Do not dispose of the cap. Do not open the synthetic urine vial until ready for use. Do not open the heat activator vial until ready for use.
- Add the entire contents of the synthetic urine vial to the water in the mixing container. Screw the cap on the bottle and gently shake the container until the powder has completely dissolved.
Now your urine is ready.
Next, I will describe how to warm it with the heat activator powder.
For easy pouring, make sure the heat activator is in a “loose” or “free-flowing” granular form. If the granules are solid or partially solid, tap the vial against a hard surface to break any clumps. This will return the heat activator to its original granular form.
The principle behind the heat activator is simple: the lower the temperature of the solution, the more heat activator will be needed. However, be very cautious with the amount of heat activator used. You must avoid overheating the solution.
If you do not see any temperature indication on the strip, this means your synthetic urine temperature is below 88°F. In this case, carefully add 1/3 of the heat activator into the mixing container. If the temperature on the strip indicates 88°F to 92°F, only add 1/4 of the heat activator into the mixing container.
Very rarely will you need to use more than 1/2 of the heat activator without overheating the solution. If the solution’s temperature rises above 102°F, let it cool down by laying the mixing container on the coldest surface available with the temperature strip facing up. Wait until the temperature drops back down to the recommended range of 94°F to 100°F (indicated in green).
After pouring the estimated amount of heat activator, replace the cap and gently shake the contents to completely dissolve the heat activator. This usually takes less than 20 seconds. After the heat activator granules have dissolved, read the temperature strip to ensure the solution is within the required range of 94°F to 100°F. If necessary, carefully add a little more heat activator.
Sub Solution vs Quick Fix
Quick Fix is a budget brand. It costs $30 for the small 3 oz size, enough for one use. Sub Solution costs $90 and has enough urine for two uses.
Sub Solution is premium urine backed by the heat activator powder. Quick Fix has a basic formula. It contains urea, uric acid, the right proportion of creatinine, and is balanced for pH and specific gravity. It looks like urine, but it’s not as good under physical or chemical scrutiny. It’s good enough as long as it passes as normal.
Quick Fix uses a heat pad to maintain the temperature. You can use a heat pad to raise the temperature and keep it there, but it can take an hour and be unreliable. The price is good. If nothing else is available, or you need to buy locally, it’s the best option you will find.
Compared to Sub Solution, if you have the money, there really is only one choice.
Sub Solution vs Quick Luck
The urine in Sub Solution is the same as in Quick Luck. The difference is that it’s in powder form. You need clean water and some time to prepare it. This isn’t convenient for me; I prefer pre-mixed urine. However, powdered urine is easy to store, while pre-mixed urine needs to be stored in a fridge after opening.
Sub Solution comes only with the heat activator powder. I don’t understand why they didn’t include a heating pad. As I mentioned, the heat activator powder is hard to use in the drug testing bathroom. You can only use it to preheat the urine quickly.
This is okay if you plan to keep the urine bottle in the crotch area, where it will be kept warm by body heat. The bottle also comes with a temperature strip, so you can easily check if the temperature is right for a drug test.
The price of Sub Solution is lower than Quick Luck at $95.
However, Sub Solution lacks heating pads, which is odd in my opinion. If you ask for my recommendation, it’s Quick Luck. But if you are okay with the heat activator powder and can keep the urine warm with body heat, you can save some money and use Sub Solution.
Where to buy
The only place you should buy Sub Solution from is the Test Negative website. Getting it from the official Clear Choice store ensures you get the best price and know it’s genuine.
I’ve seen many fake Sub Solution and Quick Luck products on sites like Amazon and eBay. It’s scary. You don’t want to get caught and fail a drug test with fake urine.
Sub Solution costs $95. They say you get what you pay for, and that’s true here. If you want the best fake urine and the best chance of passing a drug test, this is what you should go for.
If it’s a cheap pre-employment drug test for a part-time job you don’t care much about, go with something like Quick Fix if you don’t have much money. But for anything important, where it really matters that you don’t get caught, Sub Solution is the product you should seriously consider.
Conclusion
I recommend Sub Solution for those who are used to using synthetic urine, who can keep it warm with body heat, and who have a convenient way to hide it on their body. It’s a great purchase because Sub Solution is reliable and well-priced.
Overall, if you need an all-in-one solution, consider Incognito Belt.
FAQ
What if I mixed the Sub Solution and didn’t need to use it? Can I keep it for later?
Yes, you can. Once the solution is mixed, you have 8 hours to do one of three things:
- Use it.
- Put it in the fridge to use within the next 48 hours.
- Freeze it. It will keep for up to 6 months in the freezer.
Can I reheat my synthetic urine?
Once mixed, it has a time limit for use. If you freeze or refrigerate it, you should only reheat it once.
Can I microwave my urine sample?
Yes, you can microwave Sub Solution for 7-second increments. Be sure to remove the lid first. After microwaving, you need to use it within 8 hours.
How do I use the heat activator powder?
Take out the heat activator powder and gently tap the vial to loosen the powder. Carefully pour about 1/8 of the powder into the vial’s cap, then add it to the urine. Do not pour directly from the vial into the urine. It’s easy to over-pour if you do this.
Put the cap back on the urine, shake it gently for 10-15 seconds, then check the temperature strip. Repeat as necessary to get the urine to 94-100 degrees. Do not add the whole vial to the sample at once. Do not mix the heat activator in the sample cup.
If your starting temperature is low, you may need to use the entire vial, but add it gradually. If your temperature strip is not showing a reading, it means your sample is too hot or too cold.
How quickly does the heat activator work?
The heat activator works almost instantly. We suggest waiting about 5-10 seconds to see the full reaction before adding more heat activator.
Which product is more effective, Sub Solution or Quick Luck?
Both products are equally effective. They both use the same Biocide-free urine formula. Quick Luck is better for a random test, as no mixing is required.
Sub Solution is good for a scheduled test. However, Sub Solution does not come with heating pads; it only comes with the heat activator.
The heat activating powder is not working. What do I do?
You need to check if the sample is too warm or too cold. If it is too cold, add more heat activator. If it is too warm, cool your sample down.
As long as the activator is still in powder form, it will be effective. If the activator is in a liquid or solid state, it has already reacted with moisture in the air and can no longer be used. Open the heat activator only when you are ready to use it.
How long will the heat activator hold the temperature?
The heat activator will not hold the temperature; it will only bring your sample up to temperature. It is best to use the heat activator as close to the time you’re submitting your sample as possible. In cold temperatures, it may take longer for the urine to reach its ideal temperature. Warm weather means faster heating; cool weather means longer heating time. Plan accordingly.
